Vision, Philosophy and History
Welcome to Meditation 719 where we hold a vision of a compassionate and mindful community. We celebrate and respect the power each individual has to make tangible and meaningful change in their lives. We honor the belief that each person's embodied awareness contributes in immeasurable ways to the good of the world around us.
The journey I have taken to come to this place to serve the beautiful community of Colorado Springs has had many winding roads. For years I served in the non profit community as a finance professional, but my journey began as an educator. With a degree in education from the University of New Mexico, I began working with at risk youth and teaching skills to help kids find their balance in a world that challenged them. I continue to utilize that passion to serve others through meaningful education that leads to inner growth, transformation, and enthusiastic exploration of the power of meditation.
Years ago (over twenty now!), I began a personal meditation practice that taught me first hand the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of a regular practice. Regular meditation helped me to cope with stress and anxiety and has helped me build a positive and open minded outlook that moves me forward with joy and awareness of the larger picture.
I continue to study and explore the evolving state of meditation and to offer classes based on this knowledge. Through these classes I hope to bring awareness, to those seeking a meditation practice, that you were born with a natural awareness of meditation and breath. You hold the potential for optimal health and well being; and the ability to meditate is within your reach. Your centeredness is a source of creative power.
